This exploration of Intaglio printmaking delves into the rich tapestry of mythology and folklore, weaving narratives that unravel the thread of mortality and embrace the macabre. The macabre becomes a mirror, reflecting our collective fears and fascination, offering a journey into the realm where myth, folklore and mortality intertwine.
This continuing body of experimental work explores the impact of the COVID pandemic and mask wearing on our collective experience. Through screenprinting, relief printmaking, and monotypes, I aim to convey the complex emotions that emerged during these times. The mask becomes a symbol, not only of physical protection but also of the deeper layers of our shared humanity emphasizing the importance of solidarity and hope in navigating the uncertainties of the present era.
The intersection of traditional printmaking and digital printmaking bridges age-old techniques with modern technology. Using laser engravers and 3D printers with traditional printmaking techniques allows a fusion of greater experimentations, precision and accessibility.
